Genuine antique Masonic weather station, barometer US

  

Masonic barometer and thermometer with the Masonic emblem on the dial and movement (see photos). The weather station depicts the logo of Freemasonry, the Masonic compasses and the letters G. Three temperature scales are marked: Reaumur scale, Fahrenheit scale and Celsius scale. Caveats: the glass base of the thermometer has a thin crack at the bottom.

The barometer is is working, the thermometer is is working, but we cannot guarantee the accuracy. In France, the Reaumur thermometer was widely used before the adoption of the Celsius scale. The transition was long: the Celsius scale was adopted by the Convention in 1794, but the newspapers after fifty years still gave the temperature either on the scale or on both. The facility was probably designed towards the end of the 18th century (circa 17721773). The product is defined as "used" has traces of use and wear.
